Scan & send important documents right from your phone!

Have you ever needed to quickly send an important document to your doctor, employer, child's school or lawyer? 

Lucky for you, in this day and age, you can use your phone to scan a document, convert it to a PDF and send it off via email in just minutes! 


From iPhone:

  1. Open the Notes App from your phone (yellow notepad that comes standard on your phone)

  2. Click the icon in the bottom right corner of your screen to create a new note

  3. Click the Camera button

  4. Click "Scan Documents" 

  5. Make sure your document is on a flat surface and then place it in view of the camera

  6. Depending on the mode your camera is in, it may scan the document automatically. If not, click the shutter button

  7. If you have more than one page, scan all documents

  8. Then tap "Save" 

  9. Once your document is saved, click on it to open. You should see the "Send
    " icon in the top right corner of your screen (yellow square with an arrow in the center) 

  10. Click "Send" and choose to share via email

  11. Your document will be sent as a PDF to your recipient


From Android: 

  1. Open the Google Drive app 

  2. In the bottom right, tap Add (plus sign)

  3. Tap Scan 

  4. Take a photo of the document you'd like to scan.

    • Adjust scan area: Tap Crop 

    • Take photo again: Tap Re-scan current page 

    • Scan another page: Tap Add 

  5. To save the finished document, tap Done (check mark)

  6. Send document via email



If you have even TWO minutes today, practice scanning something... even just junk mail and send it to yourself just to see how quick and easy this really is! This is a great skill to have in your back pocket for when you really need it!
