Screencast Your Pictures to Share with a Group

tips & tricks Apr 11, 2023

Over spring break, my son had the opportunity to travel to Africa with River's Promise, an organization dedicated to helping children in Rwanda where his friend River was born. They build homes for widows and provide education and health insurance for children who otherwise would not have the opportunity.

As you can imagine, it was a life-changing experience he will never forget. He already wants to
sponsor as many kids as he can and plan his next trip back!

Even a month later, he is still sharing pictures and stories. And with Easter this past weekend, he and River had a captive audience of friends and family who were gathered and couldn't wait to hear all about their experience!

They projected, or screencasted, pictures from their phones to our TV while they told story after story of their week serving others. It was so much better than crowding around their phones while they swiped through one picture at a time! This slideshow format made the experience so much more interactive!

Whether you've been on a life-changing trip or not, there are lots of reasons you might want to share your own slideshow of pictures with a group of friends and family, such as:

  • wedding
  • graduation
  • baptism
  • vacation
  • memorial service

All you have to do is connect your phone to a TV and it will screencast your pictures where everyone can see and hear at once!

How to Screencast

A Few Things to Note for Screencasting:

  • You must have a smart TV
  • Your devices need to be on the same wifi before you get started
  • The first time you screencast, you will be asked to enter a code on your phone that will be generated and displayed from your TV

Android Users:

Since I don't have an Android myself, I can't share step-by-step directions with a graphic like above. However, here are the written directions:

  1. Swipe down on your phone to access your notification drawer
  2. Find and select the screencast feature (on some phones it's called "Smart View")
  3. Find and select your smart TV
  4. After a few seconds your TV will mirror your phone's display

And if you are interested in supporting River's Promise or helping a child have the opportunity to go to school my son would be incredibly grateful to help spread the word about this amazing organization! You can click HERE to learn more!

All the best,
