How to Hide Pics from View

organization Oct 04, 2022

If you have/take pictures of important documents such as your driver's license, passport, travel records, mortgage information, medical paperwork or anything else you do not want to show up in your general photo stream you can add them to a HIDDEN folder.

These pictures can then be easily accessed in just a few clicks when you need them!

Apple Users

How to Hide Your Photo:
  • Open Apple Photos
  • Find & open the photo you would like to hide
  • Click the 3 dots in the top right corner
  • Select "Hide"

How to find your Hidden Photo(s):

  • Open Apple Photos
  • Click "ALBUMS" at the bottom of your screen (if you don't see it, click the blue arrow in the top left corner of your current screen to get back to the main screen)
  • Scroll all the way down to the bottom until you see "UTILITIES" and your hidden folder

*With the IOS 16 update, Apple made this hidden album even more secure by requiring facial recognition or a password to open.

Google Photos Users

How to Hide Your Photo:
  • Open Google Photos
  • Find & open the photo you would like to hide
  • Click the 3 dots in the top right corner
  • Select "Move to Archive" which is right under the photo

How to find your Hidden Photo(s):

  • Open Google Photos
  • Click "LIBRARY" at the bottom of your screen (if you don't see it, click the arrow in the top left corner of your current screen to get back to the main screen)
  • You will see your "ARCHIVE" folder at the top of the screen

While it doesn't mean your hidden photos are under complete lock and key, they won't be as easily accessible if someone was swiping through your photos or if a stranger found your phone!

I hope you have a great start to October!

All the best,
Melissa
